Tidalwaves Swim Team
Larkspur / Corte-Madera, California

Championships JULY 14, 2012 is the Olympics of the Marin Swim League season.

Did you know that the Tidalwaves are hosing the Champs Meet this year??  We will need EVERY family's help to make this MSL-wide event a huge success - even if your swimmer is not participating in the meet.

Volunteer sign up sheets will be posted to the website on May 18.

Swimmers are encouraged to participate as long as they have competed in three dual meets (time trials excluded) and have a legal stroke (ask Marie).

Each Tidalwaves family with a swimmer in Champs must sign up for one volunteer job at Champs
(in addition to regular season volunteer job)

The links below are for Champs 2011.  We will update these links on May 18 for the 2012 Champs Volunteer Sign Ups.

Because of the size and length of this event it is very important that parents insure their swimmers get a good night's sleep before the meet. During the meet it is very important that everyone pay attention and get the swimmers to their events. NO Age Group Coordinators at Championships.

Different from regular meet. The events are scheduled in the same order as in a dual meet, however, slower swimmers swim in the first heats working up to the fastest swimmers in the last heats of each individual event.

Sixteen lanes are used, eight lanes for girls and eight lanes for boys. The meet takes all day to complete. The results of this meet determine the final team standings for the year.

Parking.  As in recent years, parking will be very limited.  Car pooling is strongly encouraged. Satellite parking will be available at San Jose Middle School, and there will be a shuttle from parking to the IVC pool (see Champs Info Packet for details).

Points are scored for the teams by individuals placing first through sixteenth place and top ten relay teams. All heats are considered counting.

Medals are awarded to 1st through 8th place finishers in individual events and all swimmers on top three relay teams.

Ribbons are awarded for 9th through 16th place in individual events AND to each heat winner after the top sixteen.

Trophies are awarded to the top three 3 high point swimmers in each age group and top five teams.

Exception for aging up.   If a swimmer's birthday falls between the last Dual Meet scheduled (League-wide) and the Championship Meet, the swimmer has the choice of swimming the Championship in the same age group as he/she was at the end of the Dual Meet season, or that same swimmer can move into the new age group for the entire meet.
